Actually (don't hit me !) I didn't like the venue.
FIRSTLY ! I'm in no way bringing Cryotec itself down, nor the efforts of the boys at all. I've done loads to support it in fact. They do a wonderful job and major kudos to them for pulling off a night that people are still enthusing about even in the face of the bad points. I'm aware of the difficulties of getting a decent venue with decent hours in Glasgow and Edinburgh all too well though and understand you need to take what you can get.
Spoilers of the night were :-
Cheek from the venue staff on entry and at the bar.
The concrete floor was uneven and not safe to dance on and uneven in other areas, you shouldn't have to worry about rough terrain when you're in a venue !
Generally scuzzy all over in a manky way like Edinburgh Mission (Studio 24 that is) or Slimeshite. Eeeew.
Very badly stocked bar (i.e. there was bugger all there I could drink) and a few other folk were resigned to "making do" with what little there was on offer.
Wasn't sure about the random "other members" coming in and trying to sell some of our punters drugs either - I guess it's something they turn a blind eye to and wouldn't bother our drug taking peers too much but it's not confidence inspiring for those of us who aren't into it.
Finding and getting back from the place was a nightmare too.
The music was good though and the punters mostly had great time.
In safe, clean venue, with (at the very least) a remotely well stocked bar, in a decen't area with friendly and respectful staff and no dealers, I'd have had an infinitely better night.
Am glad there were enough free memberships to go around though as it's not a place I'd actively want to purchase a membership for.
Something to bear in mind is that it seems you can't flyer for anything else in there. At least the staff removed any other flyers that were put down (in their none-too-friendly way) (I understand if folk want to flame me but y'know, if nobody points things out they can't be fixed)
