I'm going to start adding album reviews now to this thread, starting with this one:

Spyamp are from Dundee and specialise in gruff, spiky alt.rock. On their brand new album GTI they weave elements of post-hardcore into their stripped-down rock sound, but the effect is definitely more discordant than distorted. They’ve got great skinny/wiry guitars, and while it’s thrillingly-brutal in places, the less-is-more aesthetic becomes a bit wearying over the long-haul. Still, as someone once said: inside every quite-good album there’s a decent EP fighting to get out… Anyway- don’t let me put you off – they’ve supported Biffy Clyro and had a song played on Radio 1 so they’re definitely doing something right. (Oh, and their record label
www.petpiranha.com seems quite cool as well.) Judge for yourself.
