I joined the army once. It was a terrible experience. I had to wake up late and then trudge a mile with no breakfast to a big horrible place where they hammered out all of my individuality and every time I tried to assert myself, I was beaten down. I was forced to learn things by rote, without putting any thought into my actions.
At the end of it, I was an empty shell of a person unable to function properly in society, with my spirit destroyed and a feeling of overwhelming sadness regarding life that I've never been able to shake ever since.
Wait, that was secondary school.
