| Re: RSKL002: Orko - Travel Plans / Alex Kidd's Lonely Planet Wahey, 5/5 review on rockmidgets.com: Quote:
After a few self-released demos, Greenock's Orko finally get moving on this limited edition debut through Raskol Records. Circling the early Biffy Clyro/later Idlewild school of Scottish Indie Rock, Orko add a subtle sense of the atmospheric on 'Travel Plans', with scuzzy guitar blending with warm vocal harmonies and some pointed piano work and synth. While the Sega glory days evoking 'Alex Kidd...' is where they let loose with the skittish drumming and thundering riffs, it's the first track that really shows their potential as a chart-bothering anthem band, with the ability to provide a more attractive third way to the screamo/Libertines indie divide. Gents, please prove me right.
