It does yes. Everyone is different though and the immunity you acquire from a vaccination is dependant on your unique HLA system. There is always a subset of the population who will not be resistant to the pathogen after a vaccination (depends which one, but generally around 5%) who are protected via the 'herd immunity' afforded in the population from the majority of vaccinees. The major reason why falling vaccination numbers spells trouble for everyone and not just the children who are deliberately left unprotected.
