There's several different weights of yarn, going from smallest to heaviest there's 2-ply, 4-ply, DK, aran, chunky. The bigger the weight, the thicker and heavier the yarn which just means you knit it on bigger needles to a different gauge which it will usually tell you on the ball band. Also, beware if you're looking at american knitting sites as they have different terms for their yarn weight. |
