Cytochrome P450 is responsible for a whole lot of shit. It's supposed to help us out but it's a bit of a cunt of a friend. It produces shitloads of reactive oxygen species which cause DNA damage and widespread biomolecule damage leading to cancer and other shit, then there's this which you've pointed out.
