Re: DVDRW Turns Into 'CD Drive'

Yep, it's an internal drive, I'm running Windows XP Home (SP2) and I'm not sure if it started yesterday, I just tried to burn a DVD today and noticed the extra drives!

I looked up device manager....I have a question though! What is the difference between a 'disk drive' and a 'CD/DVD-ROM Drive'? But yeah everything is all looking good there.

I actually tried an actual DVD in my drive and it worked!!! But as for blank DVD's and writing, nothing. I'm using Sony DVD's and I tried another brand called Ridisk...still nothing.

There IS a recording tab there.

I haven't tried removing the drivers but I clicked update and it said there were no updates better than the drivers I had, though if someone can link me to a step by step guide how to do this properly and where to find the drivers I'd appreciate it.

Safe mode didn't work either and neither did the system restore >.<

PS - I'm using a DELL Dimension PC. PPS - Dell are the WORST company ever for dealing with any sort of problem as I found out about a month or so ago.

xx Kirsty
