yeah, i don't know how it's come to be seen as a destination in its own right; if you're buying theatre tickets or seeing a show (or if it's NYE i guess) you'd maybe go there, but same as Trafalgar Square, or indeed George Square, there's nothing interesting to see there really.

In London they made Trafalgar Square all pedestrianised a few years ago and I don't get the point at all; if you want to stand in between the Tate and Nelson's column for hours you're missing other, better stuff
