Well if stuff like that bothers a person then the dairy industry is cruel in itself so it can be considered fairly hyporcritical to just go veggie and not all the way vegan if it's cruelty that motivates you. I still really like and miss cheese but in many ways it just isn't worth it to satisfy tastebuds for a few seconds. It isn't the vegan label I'm after but it's just the best way to describe what I'm doing, on the other hand you do sometimes come across people who seem to want to use it as some kind of odd fashion label.
For me it was the cruelty aspects that motivated me when I went veggie at around age 11 or 12 and they still do to some extent but now it's more to do with health reasons and I just know I don't get so many health problems on a vegan diet.
Pixiedust1984 - soya milk tastes a lot different from how it used to, try the stuff you find in the chilled cabinate in stores instead of the stuff beside the UHT milk and try a few different ones because they all taste different, I like Alpro and Morrisons own brand. There is also rice milk, almond milk, oat milk etc Just experiment til you find one you like.
