Pretty tough going, in my opinion, despite how short it is. There's some really memorable bits in it but for the most part it was a bit too fragmented and bizarre for my tastes. I don't think I'd have bothered finishing it if I hadn't been studying it... in fact I remember beginning and giving up on it a few summers ago. Plus, cretin that I am, I couldn't help thinking of
Apocalypse Now all the way through.
I've only read two Conrad books but I definitely preferred
The Secret Agent.
