Not to piss on your parade... But any board games, regardless of thei similarity or otherwise to "real life" will have all the pieces lost or stolen within about two-three weeks max.
Plus getting Chess will only depress you when the cream of Glasgow Uni's intellectual crop wants to play "guess who" instead.
Get a pinball table and at least one of those "x amount of classic arcade games" table things to replace the old Jims Bar furniture.
