Re: Scottish Independance

Independence is inevitable - it's going to happen within the next 10-15 years if Scots want it or not.

English Nationalism is growing too rapidly and there is a growing resentment towards the Scots, Welsh and Irish. Trust me, the Tories and Labour in Westminster have done more work towards independence in the past 20 years, then the SNP ever have.

Estonia, Lativa, Lithuania etc, all high prosperous micro-states. Seems like separatation from the USSR worked out pretty well for them.

The near independance enjoyed by the Basque and Catalan regions of Spain also sets a clear precedent.

And going back after 5 years, having made enough money to set themselves up in business.

Scots have been doing that with Canada and America for the best part of 200 years.

It's also worth noting that some theorists see increased regionalisation in the West as a natural reaction to the cultural shifts brought on by Globalisation. As cultures from different countries merge, people cease to identify with larger national groups, resulting in identifying with people closer to their home and with similar concerns instead.
This seems to be seen as a positive thing, as it theoretically gives people more control of their local areas, and harkens back to the Athenian city-states, albeit on a larger scale.
It's possible that in 50 years time, we'll be living in a European Federation, with hundreds, if not thousands, of regional divisions.
