you'll get some people who actually have authority in the buddhism world in there, sometimes even the big important guy cos his daughter usually runs that place but i think she's based in hong kong now anyway. |
If you don't mind me asking, is it the same group that run the Samyé Ling Monastery that run the temples in Glasgow?
I found Samyé Ling is quite commercial. It reminds me of some of the Christian sects from the US in some ways, although I'm sure it's just the Monks adapting to survive in a country where they can't survive off the kindness and faith of others. That said, my cousin is a horrific advert for Buddhism. I don't actually know a more money grabbing, self obsessed WAG-type then her, yet she's getting married at Samyé Ling next month.
