Shinran Shonin, founder of the Jodo Shinshu school of Buddhism. whatever that means. anyhow, it's about 20 feet tall, and scary as fuck, and to boot it's also radioactive, cos the statue was in hiroshima when it was bombed - and later given to new york as a gift, to symbolise peace.
freaky-ass thing to grow up next to. so yeah, buddhism scares me.
