Oooh you got there before me, i was quoting you and you got in a sneaky edit! But yeah they are just a type of fungi from the yeast family that cause disease/infection. The majority are opportunistic pathogens (pathogenic to comprimised immune systems) but there are some non-pathogenic yeasts that are implicated in disease.
