Every time I've ever needed to unblock a drain in a sink (I have a habit of just pushing chunks of food from pots, pans and plates down the plug hole with my thumb rather than fishing them out - so it usually needs unblocked every once in a while) or bath (hair) I've poured a jug of concentrated sodium hydroxide down there and it's worked perfectly.
You can buy it cheaply from chemists and the like (usually sold as "lye" or "drain cleaner"). Remember to add the crystals to the water and not the water to the crystals to prevent it bubbling up and rapidly heating and dissolving your face/hands. |
