The trick (and you can only get away with this once) is to hope they've written it on the rota in an ambiguous manner. In a previous job, I was down as 12-1. I knew full well this was a 13 hour shift, so I showed up, and after an hour, I slipped out the back way and went home.
They were livid, but you can just about get away with it if you make them think it was an honest mistake.
