Salt is really bad for you - the body is not designed to handle high concentrations of salt because it doesn't occur commonly in nature (apart from ocean water, but that wasn't really an evolutionary pressure in the past). That's why a diet with too much salt leads to quite a few problems including high blood pressure and kidney problems. You can get used to food with low or no salt - your taste-buds will adapt and your body will thank you. Food with too much salt tastes horrible to me cos I'm just no used to it. |
Fair enough, it sounds like you know what you're doing. I'm not one to talk, I tried the kellogs diet, I just can't eat too much of any one thing, and I got really sick of cereal.
I don't love salt as such, I just love how salt brings out the flavour, tomatoes for example, taste awesome with a wee bit of salt. I honestly crave it all the time, always have for as long as I can remember. I personally think it's healthy to eat what I crave because it's my body's way of telling me what I need.
I don't just crave salt btw, I crave healthy things too lol
