Having said that, the series is so much better when dealing in faux-Christian and Medieval mythology. Because this new one doesn’t, it goes squarely in the box marked Temple of Doom.
Still but … third or fourth best Indy movie, it’s still an Indy movie! Bloody brilliant Sunday matinee tosh. I liked the addition of a period-accurate sidekick, too. The Indy movies were always as much homage to adventure serials as they were films in their own right.
Also, the little quips and references to other films were spot-on. Amazed they even squeezed in a Star Wars joke.
The one thing I could have done without were the prairie dogs. Bloody George Lucas and his bloody CGI critters. Worse than the Ewoks.
