They seem like fair idea but wouldn't it be more costly to the tax payer in the long run? Maybe looking at how much paper the current recycling companies can realistically produce and then finding out how much paper government departments use would be a good start. If any departments use roughly the same amount as recycling companies produce than petition them to replace non-recycled with recycled on a workable scale. Aiming for "all public companies does seem rather unrealistic at present.
Saying that jobs will be created is all very well but does that mean that current recycling plants are understaffed and would now have the demand that would require more staff? Or does it mean that more recycling plants are required? If it's the latter then who pays for them?
What recycled paper isn't post-consumer, where does it come from, why should it be discounted and what would be done with it if recycling plants suddenly started regarding it differently? |
