Also mentioned is that encrypting your dodgy music files on your laptop isn't going to help if you're travelling, since The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 says we can be thrown in jail for 2 years for refusing to decrypt data when requested by law enforcement agencies, even if we "just forgot" the password.

Of course.. that's why you'd use TrueCrypt and volume-within-volume stenography.

Assuming a guy at the airport knew enough to identify my encrypted file, I'd be able to provide a password that would unlock the outer layer consisting of my CV, a couple of spreadsheets and maybe a word document, and then there's no way to prove than an inner layer exists.
