| Re: Hellboy 2 - The Golden Army Saw it last night at the Cineworld showing - anyone else from on here there?
I really enjoyed it - massive improvement on the first one, particularly the script and humour. Ron has really settled into the role and it's great to watch him be HB. Doug Jones is much better suited to Abe than David Hyde-Pearce, because Abe is never portrayed as being overly camp in the comics. Was disappointed by Johann slightly - he was so overblown, and comically Churmann, really just Seth McFarlane's Klaus character from American Dad redux. Looked amazing but - the whole film did.
I'd also say it was a further step away from the comics, and for the better - it feels like GDT has established his own universe, his own Hellboy, and I felt like it was easier to accept the differences between the two mediums.
Must say, though - it wasn't a patch on The Dark Knight, but the two films are so utterly different they can only be comparable on a purely cinematic level, rather than two "superhero movies".
End was garbage but, even though I knew it was coming. It was just so... Sudden.
Can't wait to see it again though, and roll on HB3.
