Well, I say "a couple of pints" when I mean an indefinite number of pints all the time.
It doesn't seem "wrong" to me, it's just not the formal definition of the word. It's an informality.
Like, if someone asked the definition of "literally", I wouldn't say "almost", "exaggeratedly" or "metaphorically", even though those are common informal meanings.
