I thought you were using him as an example of someone who holds a different nationality than that of the country where he was born, to counter Jenpot's claim that she's not Irish (or the implication that she's been told she
can't be Irish). I just didn't think it was a relevant comparison, because he's in a completely different situation.
I'd say your nationality was an official thing, your national identity or ethnicity isn't and is more a case of where you feel you belong or the people you feel you relate to.
