Aparently, Lovecraft was a big fan of another of my favourite authors, M.R. James, to the extent that he ran a fanzine for said author. They share similar themes/plots, ie an academic investigates an artifact/ancient myth/ruins etc and comes a cropper. Although M.R. James allows his protagonists to live every now and again. |
