| Re: Glasgow West End Metal-Fest 5th March alrite,
not to worry staresy, the guy's had a few heavy bands on & gets a good sound, plus we should have an hour's sound check per band (& you'll get a rider ya bas), so everything will be sorted.
see yous at nightwish for the cheezathon by the way!

| Re: Glasgow West End Metal-Fest 5th March Calum, I totally agree with your point on the very first post about everyone into extreme metal making an effort to come to this gig. It's true that the more turn up, the more likely it is that other bands will come over. Sadly, I think this is a forlorn hope. Time and time again reasonably established bands have came to Glasgow and got piss poor turn outs which really shows no encouragement to anyone else who might think of coming over. Most of the posts on this thread are about coming to see Dionysus and Achren, no bad thing of course, but I wonder what the turn out would be if it was just Manegarm and NGT? I know a few are coming just for Manegarm, but overall, not many I would guess as there appears to be widespread apathy in this area when it comes to going to see relatively unknown European bands. You only have to look at the turn out at the recent Adultery + NGT gig to see that. Hopefully everyone will stay to the very end to see Managarm too as it'll be well worth it.
Having said all that and mini-rant over, I hope it's packed on Saturday as it promises to be a top night.
Cheers!! |

| Re: Glasgow West End Metal-Fest 5th March Alrite Gav ya big pessimist! heheh.
From the response we've had for tickets, this is looking like a good one- we've already made it worthwhile on ticket sales, so hopefully we can show these bands how good the scene in Glasgow is. This one's a bit of an experiment for us, but we've already got another date booked in oran mor with Iconoclasm from Belgium with another promoter, so looks like there are a few of us willing to give it a go.
As for the piss poor turnout at the last NGT/Adultery gig, here's a thought- where the fuck were the flyers/posters for it at the packed out gig in the note with achren/dionysus/argonath a few weeks beforehand? I didn't even know about that gig until we met Adultery in Coventry the day before. Also- how many people can be fucked/ can afford to be going to a gig on a monday night? Ah well, that's my wee rant, heheh.
Lookin forward to tomorrow!
cheers

| Re: Glasgow West End Metal-Fest 5th March Pessismistic is the only way to be - it leads to a lifetime of pleasant surprises!!
Flyers for Adultery were handed out at the very gig you mentioned, that's how I found out about it. Nice glossy ones they were too!!
I suppose things could be worse - I think someone told me that there was a total of zero punters at that Coventry gig!! Is this true? |

| Re: Glasgow West End Metal-Fest 5th March ah well, I don't remember any flyers or posters.... (obviously not eye catching enough, heheh). Coventry was very badly attended, aye. (not zero punters, but not far off it) Apparently that's fairly usual for it as well, which is unbelievable considering the calibre of bands that played. Just goes to show Glasgow isn't that bad when it comes to underground metal. Monday night is still a pish night to put on a gig though. We've found that tickets for saturday night gigs almost sell themselves in comparison to the struggle to get folk out during the week (ok, not always possible for touring bands, but I think promoters need to be realistic in what's actually going to be worth putting on for a monday night...)
