Awrighty,
We never thought that we’d ever put out this piece of news, guess we just felt that no matter what happens we’d pull through the other end as a band and get up there, play another tune and put it behind us, but there are only so many times you can put new strings on the guitars or a bit of gaffa tape over the bass drum pedal.
So it is with heavy hearts that after many nights of filth, fun, frolics and punk rock debauchery, The Alpacinos have decided to call it a day. There hasn’t been any falling out among us, no one has run away with anyone else’s girlfriend, it has just got a wee bit stale and frustrating. We’ve always believed in making our music and had a great time doing it, but it’s not as much fun as it used to be.
We reckon over the past 6 or 7 years the band have played about 400 gigs in dozens of different places, each of them special in their own way. We’d like to thank Alan Bulloch, Ally Barrie, all our friends, family and every band we’ve ever played with; they’ve all done something that made the journey great.
There are some great memories that we can bore our kids with: the tours down South, playing the Air session on BBC Radio Scotland, the weekends of recording in Crawford John, The Wickerman Festival 2004 and opening for the Presidents of The United States of America at Carling Academy in Glasgow.
Our final fling will take place at O’Henrys, Drury Street, Glasgow on the evening of Saturday 18th November. It would be amazing if lots of you could make it along and make it something to remember. We’ll be selling off all the CDs and stuff if you want something to remember us by. For those of you who can’t make the gig –
We’ve been The Alpacinos – you’ve been subjected to it!
Cheers + Beers
