Alternative Nation Server Move: CANCELLED due to bad weather

Right boys and girls, it's that time of year again!

(No, we don't do this every year, but still…)

AN is moving between servers tonight, weather permitting. For most people, this shouldn't take longer than it actually takes to move everything: somewhere between an hour and two hours, unless something goes wrong.

For some of you, unfortunately, it will mean that you'll be without a forum for a while, possibly as long as 24 hours. I've done everything I can to try to prevent this from happening, but some ISPs and networking setups insist on ‘remembering’ old details for much longer than they're supposed to.

What will happen is this: at some point this evening, probably about 9pm, the actual move will start. We'll be closing the forum altogether so that all the information can get backed up and transferred to the new server. Because things would get terribly confusing for people if there were two separate copies of AltNation running, you won't be able to see the forum again until it goes live on the new server.

If you hit the old server (i.e., this one) whilst we're in the process of transferring things, you'll be told as much.

If you hit the old server after everything's moved, there'll be a message posted to explain that your ISP is rubbish and you'll need to wait a little while. This should be as little as five minutes—fingers crossed.

(For anybody ‘in the know’ paying attention, this was actually supposed to happen weeks ago, but I got stuck reading New Posts for days on end…)

ha, actually wonderful timing for me. if i don't study tonight i'm gonna get burned at the stake by my supervisors.

now, if you can only dismantle msn and myspace at the same time? no?

Msn and Myspace will be broken as usual so I don't think you have much to worry about

Here...you do realise it's Tuesday night...and that we watch 24 at 9 on a Tuesdsay night. If this server move interrupts my viewing I will be booting your balls. Nothing gets between me and my weekly fix of Jack Bauer other than stupid American scheduling

17/04/07 if you add those numbers up you get 28 and if you add that to get you get 10 add those to get you get 1 and if you do it twice you get 1 and 1 which when beside each otehr is 11. Then we all know that 10 in binary is 2 and if you add that to 07 you get 9 which gives you 9/11.

It's a conspiracy.
