| Prefixes coming to a thread near you. Over the next few days I'm going to be streamlining the site some more, romving alot of the forum clutter and one of the tools to do this will be prefixes which you'll see appearing around the forum.
This thread has one called Feature as in new site feature. We'll be adding these to lots of sections, especially if we remove certain forums. The idea is to make the place simpler to browse and cleaner to use.
For example, all threads in the music forum will have an optional prefix of punk, rock, metal etc just pick the one that most suits the music, I've stuck to generic ones so you won't find any metalupsidedownemotwiddlefingerscore but I'm sure you can figure out if a bands should be punk or metal etc.
As always these are only as good as the users choice, so pick something suitable or a mod will change it to something suitable. It also has the added bonus of adding a tag with the same name, again this will help future searches.
Now for the best bit (possibly), your in the music forum and theres 50,000 posts but you want to find the ones which are prefixed Punk. Scrol to the bottom of the forum and select the punk prefix from the drop down and you'll only see the punk threads in that forum.
If anyone has additional suggestions please feel free to submit them.

| Re: Prefixes coming to a thread near you. To avoid the inevitable cries of "THAT'S NOT PUNK!!111" etc why not have an option for combining prefixes? Sort of an AND function? e.g.
Prefix = Punk AND Metal
So the thread would show up on either prefix search?

Edit - Never mind. | Yup but we tweaked the prefixes to automatically add a tag the same as the prefix. Since it seemed pointless to have three systems.
Were just waiting on vB to go gold before implementing there tag systems since the old one was a third party thing, however all tags will be moved over.

The main reason for this is we have far to many forums. Eg: Allt he review forums could be merged into the forum the review should be in and jsut prefixed with review. The General Chat forum could have humour, nature, politics,tabloids,religion prefixs meaning we could merge the current forums for them into the one place.
