Surely that only applies to PM's on here? Is it fair to ban folk for what they choose to do out with the forum? (ie on MSN etc)

Some folk got banned from here for crank-phonecalling Rev Scapegoat at all hours of the night, so, aye, there's precedent for people getting banned for off-forum shenanigans.

Technically the line stops at posting things on the site via pm's etc.

Though PM's are only every checked if we are requested to check them, they are private for a reason and I still regard that part extremely important. I'll only ever check them if someone complains of harassment or request by ISP/Police etc.

Still in some cases I will take offsite stuff into account, theres usually nothing I can do about the stuff of the site but I can prevent a user talking about the offsite stuff here.

If it's offsite though it's best to complain to the persons ISP/HOST or contact the relevant support.

I think Forbes was just trying to say that there's a good side to the forum as well as a bitchy side. And the "the forum is shite" argument doesn't really wash when it's coming from people who, er, use the forum.
