| Reporting bad posts when you hit the report bad posts thing and submit one, does it just go straight to admin/mods? and does it say the user being reported and the thread and stuff? (yup, im on a big asking questions spur just now)

| Re: Reporting bad posts Yup
When you a report a post a thread is started in the "Reported Posts" forum, quoting the post reported, and the complain beneath it.
All advisors, supermods, and admins can see it.

| Re: Reporting bad posts does the user you report know who reported them, like is it "annonymous"? is Reported Posts a private forum by the way, canny see it... and if you report a bad post from a mod or suchlike, can that person see who reported them?

| Re: Reporting bad posts People have no idea who reported them.
The forum is only available to advisors, supermods, and admins.
The mods of that forum also get an e-mail with the post and complaint.

example Reported Post post - this bit is what is typed into the "Reason" box.
The Mods who get the email will depend on which Forum section the reported post is in, the email contains essentially the same info.
This post would be generated in a section restricted to Advisors, SuperMods & Admin - I've just merged this in here.
The Reported Post will appear just as a post made by the user doing the reporting. Assigned Moderators: (mods who got the Email)
Ghostsuit, Semprini

Reason: expanding the "Reason" with more info

| Re: Reporting bad posts I'd also mention if you have a problem with an Admin or Supermod you can always go direct to an Admin rather than reporting if you want to avoid the super/admin knowing

| Re: Reporting bad posts It was reported, 2 minutes later the commentary began.
Not much back n forth on it, mostly as it's in Junk Talk (things in Junk tend to have a bit less moderation on 'em as concerns personal attacks and the like and only if the banter gets truly vicious do folks get stepped on...err, admin types step in)
I'm unsure if it's possible for users to see the post they create as a result of reporting and nothing else within that forum, but it might be something to look into as there's currently no procedure for feedback to the user that reported the post originally. |

| Re: Reporting bad posts More aimed at Woolies/Forbes on this one -
What happens if you change the forum permissions for Registered from can't view to
View Forum - Yes
View Others Threads - No
?
I'm not gonnae test it, but that would apparently allow the poster to view their own reported threads (reported threads show up as posted by the person who reports them)
One of you sleepless lot concur? |

| Re: Reporting bad posts *PMs guff the specifics of the outcome of the reported post*
aye...come to think of it, definitely something that should come out of reported posts - user feedback. I'd hate the idea of sending off a request and not hearing anything. |

? | yes, it is possible to allow users to see the threads started by their Reporting Posts, but I'd say no.
Mainly for the reason that you would then need to allow users permission to reply to their own threads as well (having no input other than the first Report would be the most frustrating thing in the world I imagine). The Reported Posts threads should technically just be aboutthe post / topic repored but how often do tey go off topic on to other things? (almost always?)
The Forum would have to be moved from Site Discussions & so all the currently inherited permissions changed for each usergroup, Advisors, SuperMods & Admin would all have to be much more careful in the way they posted there - basically a lot more work and taking what is now a currently fairly informal atmosphere and turning it into something that would have to be heavily censored/moderated to keep it purely to "official" posts which I believe would reduce discussion & input from folks.
But yes - there really should, at the end of each Reported Post thread, someone saying "PM'ed outcome" |
