| New demo! Alright everyone!
The word has been spreadin about lately about recodring. The question is: when are you available to do it! ?
Heres the info so far........
Havin phoned alot of studios and whatnot i personally am thinkin RED EYE in clydebank. The costs are 150 for an 8hour day.
Their eq is 2nd to none : Amps: Mesa boogie triple rectifiers
Drums: Yamaha 9000 series
Mics: Usual industry standard shure's
The guy was sound when i phoned and was lovin the fact that were 'real thrash' , his head was lovin the exodus! Anyways, he ONLY mixes metal bands and has done most of the big glasgow bands demos like Man Must Die and Godplayer to name a few - so he knows what he's doin. He also agees that drums are the most important part of a mix (which is important id say) and said its cool if we want to sit in on mixin
They have spaces available for this month and next month so once ppl start committing to when they can do it the better! Im thinkin that we could prob have the recording done within the 1st day/early in the 2nd day. So that would be 300 quid for the demo which isnt too shabby! If you's can afford the 3rd day we can record over 2 days and then return at a later date to mix they said. But as i said i think e could do it in 2, just need to practice alot in studio and at home in the run up to it to get tight!
Songs: Im thinkin 3. Kill the gestapo for definate then contract and false flag - well thats my thoughts, not sure about you guys!
Anyways, lets get this movin along so post your availabilty and whatnot along with how much you can stretch to for payin and your thoughts on songs!!!
Cheers!

| Re: New demo! good work sir, the wheels are rumbling. My availability is a bit dodgy with living up in dundee but i can still come down on certain days for it. For me its going to get worse cos i have early exams on the 11th and 13th of december. Hopefully it can get done in two days ideally but if it is really nowhere near finished by then maybe overspill to the third. If that happens then an extra 30 bar (a night in solid) for a well mixed demo would be worth it. But aye if we practice which we hopefully will be doing with the pitiful reign gig coming up and the sound dude knows the sound we want then we should be cool hopefully
Kill The Gestapo, Thrash Island, Contract or false flag (not sure yet) are me picks
ARGUE!

| Re: New demo! I'm working now pretty much every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night however it's nights, so i could do my recording early on the 2nd day or something. I can also get the dates off though so lets plan a date.
I'd say Kill the Gestapo and Thrash Island. I ain't heard False Flag so dunno whats that like so ill go for Contract for the 3rd or maybe... to be controversial... Chapter One

| Re: New demo! Booo!
Get KtG, The Crusador, and False Flag recorded.
Also, this guy knows you're Thrash so don't let him give you an Andy Sneap-style mix. Granted, you want a good qualtity demo but Thrash is meant to sound fairly raw.

| Re: New demo! hey good stuff macho for keeping the wheels of steel rolling, im free at weekends, but i do have a hell of a lot of coursework to do, having said that, im willing to do a bad essay for the sake of the demo haha
in terms of songs,
Kill the Gestapo - Thrash Island/False Flag - a new one that only iains actually heard coz i showed him whilst getting a guitar lesson haha, or contract, or crusdor, im still thinking hard, not making any descsions till we play the likes of crusador or flag live

How the take the "old" out of old school right there and turn it into "grim school" in my mere opinion
You appear to have made a mistake iain, i dont see thrash island in your song picks.....
Id be a bit wary to do songs that havnt been put through their paces live.

| Re: New demo! i think the best bet for this demo would be to do it before christmas but after uni finishes. Means we could book it now
We really need to met up sometime in a pub or practice and talk about all this. Trying to discuss all this over a forum is a bit grizzly

Ainsley would agree its the best way

Kill
Thrash
Flag?
i reckon demo should be called thrash island with a goofy cartoon of a party island, BBQ'S tended by an ainsley hariot lookalike, people getting eating by sharks, molested by giant lobsters and just basically rediculous, we could all be wearing bermuda's and doing rediculously cheesy poses, thats what i think anyway, were the only thrash band in the uk playing remotely goofy metal lol |
