To be honest the whole ""metal" is cool" thing is probably one big fad anyway. It'll have moved on in a few years time.
Same thing happened in 80's with "thrash" I suppose, good bands to begin with then the record suits frantically sign up anything with slight guitar distortion and label as they please resulting in mass saturation of a once proud genre with shitty 2nd rate bullshit bands.
Then pick a "cool" new genre title, lather, rinse and repeat for ALL ETERNITY!!! |

I still dont really think moanin about fringes really counts as a decent point because daft as it is to all have the same stupid hair do I think ye'd have to work pretty fuckin hard to find a thrash band that didnt have some1 with the obligatory long hair and 80's skinny jeans an that. It's not as stupid lookin as the emo folk but its a fashion that goes hand in hand wi that particular style of music which is what yer gettin at! pretty much any trend in heavy music has a kind of fashion assigned to it which is fairly gay.
overall greg is correct, calum got pished and moaned about emo bands pretendin to be metal bands and moaned about how theres nae gid music on the telly. As far as i'm concerned thats a valid as fuck post!

Headbanger's Ball doesn't cover Thrash anymore because Thrash is dead so, when the show started up again, it had to find other stuff to cover. It just so happens that 80 - 90% of what they can cover now is utter wank but people still have the vision of HBB as a Thrash show.
