an excellent quote from Scott NOT Ian about the shittiness of current metal | Thats a load of bull!
That might be the current way with mainstream metal right now but its certainly not true of underground.
If all you guys are gonna go out and seek is thrash wae a fuckin 80s sound then no wonder ye are complainin that ye dont see what you like and thank fuck coz metal has moved on since then.
There are so many bands right now that are riff based. |

There are so many bands right now that are riff based. | There are a lot of underground Thrash bands coming out of the woodwork in England, Ireland and Canada at the moment.
Scott Ian, as someone who grew up listening to KISS, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, probably meant that he doesn't hear many riffs today that will be regarded as classic riffs as a lot of KISS, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Lizzy and Maiden riffs were.

I, for one, wouldn't want the world and his wife listening to Thrash because it's when people start listening to bands just because their mates are listening to them that genres start to get clogged with pos-URES.
Just go through with your plan to gig with the Irish and English bands, get some exposure in Zero Tolerance (a la Evile) and all will be cool.

| Re: Metal I reckon Scott Ian hit the nail on the head there in regards to what is defined as "metal" by the majority. But even with regards to "underground" metal, I haven't heard a single band (that I can think of) that have impressed me in recent years- I'm looking for songs that are well composed and musically interesting, as well as being good to listen to obviously. Records like CoC's new album spring to mind (although that's the term metal being used very loosely), but I've failed to hear any newer bands that meet these specs! And I don't only seek out thrash- anyone who knows me could tell you that I listen to everything from funk&jazz to Hindustani!
Maybe I'm not looking in the right places!

| Re: Metal haha yeah il admit safe home is a wee couchy radio number. But its not on kerrang and the amount of amazing riffs he has written over the last 20 years makes up for it! id happily watch it if it was on rather than killswitch engage and the like. We shall see what the next album sounds like now that the proper line up is back together. I think we should all listen to def leppard and be happy
to be honest i dont think i am ever going to be happy with current metal. im so narrow minded. its 80's thrash with high singing or nothing. oh yeah and hair metal lol

Bad song on an otherwise good album.

Man, you're only narrow-minded compared to the guy who listens to a wider range of music than you and that guy is narrow-minded compared to people who listen to a wider range of music than him.
Narrow-mindedness is a fucking farse! I'll only accept it when I meet someone who has a genuine taste in every form of music ever conceived i.e. from early Babylonian music - present and everything in between. This will never happen so anyone who calls me narrow-minded is either a twat or a hypocrite.

Pantera were theiving bastards anyway, they were a wannabe Priest until Phil turned up with the Get Rude demo and a poor Kyle Thomas impersonation.
