I dunno, I think "hardcore" is a decent wee word to describe... Well, hardcore.

Maybe I'm just used to it, though. It's a word with connotations of aggressive dedication that I think are pretty befitting of the subject. I'm sure it has some kind of origin that made sense at the time to the folk who first coined it. Genrés are generally throwaway tags made-up by people in and around the scene without much thought, that just end up sticking somehow. Maybe a better word could have been chosen to describe ferocious, intense harder-edged punk rock, but it is what it is and most people seem to know what it's supposed to mean anyway.

Ach I know, doesn't particularly annoy me, its just the lack of sense just niggles.

Logically it would mean that country is hardcore folk, rock is hardcore country, punk is hardcore rock, metal is hardcore pu....ad infinitum.

It probably wouldn't bother me in the slightest if folk didn't take it so seriously. But I guess thats what it means to be hardcore.

(Or if I was one of the majority of humanity who have idea that there even is a genre of music called hardcore.)

It's the most laffo thing in the world that people are trying to have some intellectual debate about how hardcore shouldn't be a genre because noone can tell where it ends and where it starts.

The type of hardcore i was on about was NY Hardcore...bands like madball, life of agony, biohazard etc.

deffo aye, h20 n sick of it all are shit hot. but mainly into madball's brutal breakdowns n stuff. I do agree we're not a typical hardcore band but i dnt think we are a stereotypical metal band either. But fuck it...its all rock n roll. lol

Right folks i'm gonna leave you to your debate. The whole point of this thread has been lost.

We actually really need a bassist asap, so i would appreciate it if when i put up another one it was left for people who actually were bassists looking for a band.
