| Re: !!glasgow Hardcore Band Seek Bassist!! Metal. You are a metal band.
This guy might listen to you, hell he might even think you're PRITTY FUCKEN SWEET DUDE!! He might go so far as to say "they're alright for a hardcore band", but he'd be wrong because you aren't a hardcore band.
Genré debating aside, you aren't too bad! Good riffs. Good METAL riffs. \m/. |

| Re: !!glasgow Hardcore Band Seek Bassist!! I honestly can't tell the difference.
'Hardcore' seems to be the word used when any genre starts to become unfashionable. You won't see Archaos advertising House or Big Beat nights. Same shitey techno (And the odd bit of pretty fucking decent techno.) except its Hardcore.
What does hardcore mean in rap terms? Fiddy prob'ly. |

| Re: !!glasgow Hardcore Band Seek Bassist!! I actually knew that, I'm just on a tear against the meaninglessness of Hardcore as a descriptor for genres of music. I used to think that Gravediggaz were hardcore admittedly.
Its like calling 'Awesome' a genre.
Hmm. |

Hmm. | Hold on, I think I get what you're saying here. It's pretty deep, but I think I agree. Basically, if I'm understanding this properly, what you're saying is that it's like using words to describe music? Holy shit, you're right!
I dunno why you think "Hardcore" is any less use as a word to associate with a genre of music just because it already means something. I see you refer to "Industrial" music all the time and that's an actual word, too! |

| Re: !!glasgow Hardcore Band Seek Bassist!! I think, perhaps, Mark is alluding to the fact that every genre of music has something it describes as hardcore it seems. "Hardcore-something" makes sense but referring to it as just hardcore is foolish Lev. FOOLISH!

| Re: !!glasgow Hardcore Band Seek Bassist!! Yo Joe, that just 'aint so.
I have no problem with using words to describe music, that would be much more moronic than I in fact am. Hardcore is basically meaningless as a descriptive term for any genre of music. I mean, Industrial refers to the sound of industrial machinery which features heavily in the sampling of the music. What the fuck does 'hardcore' mean?
Nothing, thats what. By all means, attach a meaningless description to your music if you want, but don't try and pretend its anything but.
Awesomecore, here.

| Re: !!glasgow Hardcore Band Seek Bassist!! "Hardcore" in heavy guitar-based rock is generally accepted to mean aggressive music rooted in punk rock that has an intentional slant towards ferociously expressing a particular, usually positive, message or belief. Common topics are LIFE ON DA STREETZ and UNITY WITH YO' BROTHAZ 'N' SISTAZ. I think a lot of people are aware of this, thus making it pretty "meaningful".
"Metal" isn't generally consdiered to require any of these things. You said you don't know the difference, I'd say that's probably the difference right there.
I know you're saying that "hardcore" can be used to reference some other style of music, but I severely doubt this band are referring to "dance music"-style "hardcore". If they are, they aren't any less wrong and are still metal. |

Here is a meaning.
They have absolutely nothing to do with each other, have fun appropriating English for your own private language. Every other genre of music seems to do this with hardcore, which renders it even more meaningless than it was in the first place.
Might as well call your music shoegaze.
These guys though, aye they're definitely metal, somewhat slipped my mind that this was their thread. |
