| Edinburgh hardcore: members needed for new band Hi there,
im new in edinburgh and am looking to start up a hardcore band. wanting to jam once every couple of weeks at first. my influences are terror, most precious blood, stampin ground, death before dishonor, by my hands, caliban, born from pain etc. I would like to play in this style really, but am happy to consider any other style suggestions in hardcore.
i also listen to plenty of other sounds like august burns red, azriel, killswitch etc as well as totally different stuff like amen ra, tool, red sparrowes, neurosis etc.
I play rhythm guitar reasonably competently, and was thinking of starting out jamming covers of stuff like terror - crushed by the truth, terror - push it away, most precious blood - great red shift, born from pain - stop at nothing etc but have a couple of bits and pieces of songs i came up with. so, to get to the point, looking for a drummer, second guitarist, bassist and singer that are interested in hardcore or anything hardcore influenced for a jam. nothing too serious to start out with.
get in touch if you're interested - calum.raine@hotmail.co.uk or PM for my mobile number. |

| Re: Edinburgh hardcore: members needed for new band alryt dude, hows u doing n shiz ?
me and my pal are starting a band, ive been in numerous bands around the uk, everette, our cold city and ive recently moved back to scotland. we'r waiting to find a drummer but we need another guitarist. our influences are basically bands such as my children my bride, i declare war, salt the wound. really tough as fucuuk hardcore with the metal edge.
i was str8 edge for 2 years, the vocalist was edge for 4 years and we aim to take this seriously with no messing about. the vocalist comes to glasgow from dundee and i live about 40 mins outside glasgow, but i am open to going to edinburgh to rehearse it depends on when we get a drummer where hes from etc innit man.
we'r trying to do something different, that u dont hear from any bands around just now. chuggy dropped zed 2 steppy stuff with the cheeziest epicly harmonised 2 step riffs u will ever hear.
we have put up a poor as fuuuck recording of a sort of sound we want to aim for www.myspace.com/owoi
if your interested, then drop me a text obv tell me who u are and shit, im not on the pc much man
cheers xdavie'dx

| Re: Edinburgh hardcore: members needed for new band I have become desensitised to seeing the phrase "By My Hands" in pretty much every post by everyone in Glasgow and the surrounding areas who has recently got into "hardcore". I don't even notice it any more. It's kinda like how if you are around a really bad smell long enough, you stop smelling it. |

| Re: Edinburgh hardcore: members needed for new band I think the point you missed is that you weren't really sXe because you stopped, you were just someone who didn't do certain things for a certain amount of time. I've not done any of those things in the last hour, doesn't mean I've been edging it up, just means it's about time to crack open a beer and have a smoke.
And if being edge really was a purely self respect thing then why need the label? By labelling yourself you were sending a message to your peers, and that's generally done through the desire to be noticed. And since you broke it does that mean you stopped respecting yourself? Probably not. |

| Re: Edinburgh hardcore: members needed for new band Get The Dirty Projectors album Rise Above. Quote: |
While the disc could be considered a concept album, the main idea and driving force is an attempt by Dave Longstreth to rewrite the entire Black Flag album, Damaged, from memory. Rather than short, angry shouts of protest, the songs often double or triple (quadruple in the case of Spray Paint (The Walls)) the original lengths of the songs and present the lyrics in an array of highly melodic tapestries of music. The album boasts strong string and wind arrangements, most of which came from the album's original 4-track demos. A large clip of the first take of one such arrangement appears as a post scriptum to Room 13, and another chunk of unidentified strings are the bonus track.
