Radio Govan have banned playing the single as it doesn't portray their listeners in a good light...........
I read about this today in teh Free Record that you get at the train station. Was gonna search for it on Youtube but I don't need to now. If I can find my copy of the paper I'll post some of the comments they made. One was if they actually made it to the top 40 they would make a new version so the English could understand it  |

Acht, Dec, I dunno if I'd be so harsh. You can't deny that this is a pretty on-the-mark lampooning of yer generic Glaswegian, and making a cartoon out of your culture and just having a good joke about it is also a form of embracing it. I don't think it's likely that anyone is really going to take this as a 100% serious example of "Scottish hip-hip" or anything. | |
