That was actually hard trying to remember what came out this year, and what I bought.

Melvins record came out last year. I can't think of 10, perhaps because I've spent much of 2007 pumping classic krautrock, 90s vegan straight-edge metal and all the old Japanese hardcore I can find. Here's a few that I've liked though:

Stuff I need to hear: Grinderman, Wolves in the Throne Room, Big Business, Burial and Radiohead. Good reissues/represses: Framtid - Under the Ashes, Young Wasteners - We Got Ways, So Much Hate - How We Feel. Good demo: Moloch.

i bought very few albums in 2007 and none of those i did buy were especially good.

i'm buying more stuff on iTunes now and that tends to be "singles" - the record companies are probably getting substantially less money outta me than a few years ago.

the kenzos is probably the best album of the year!
they have a nasty alternative sound
that is reminiscent and refreshing at the same time
it's like nirvana, stone temple pilots, pearljam, and qotsa
all smooshed up together


...btw "speaking my mind" is my favorite song
