Your Top 10 Albums of the Year?

People usually make a thread about the album of the year, but I figured that a thread where people post their top ten albums of the year might be good since it could give other's ideas for their Christmas lists.

Mine are simply in alphabetical order:

Bright Eyes - Cassadega
Dntel - Dumb Luck
Elliott Smith- New Moon
Gogol Bordello - Super Taranta!
Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog
Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger
Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
The Shins - Wincing the Night Away

Re: Your Top 10 Albums of the Year?

I'll have to come back to this as I can't remember when specific albums came out but off the top of my head:

1. The Chemical Brothers - We Are the Night
2. Avast! - Faultlines
3. Down - Over the Under
4. Biffy Clyro - Puzzle

I can't stand 'Easy Tiger' but if you like that check out the Jason Isbell album I salute below.

I don't like new music, but if I have inadvertently listened to anything made since 1986 in the past 11 months it would be:

'Sky Blue Sky' - Wilco
'Magic' - Bruce Springsteen
'Cassadaga' - Bright Eyes
'Ys' - Joanna Newsom
'Sirens of the Ditch' - Jason Isbell
'The Scene of the Crime' - Bettye Lavette

The Wildhearts award for being The Wildhearts goes to The Wildhearts for 'The Wildhearts'.

And I really like the new Steve Earle album but I don't pretend it's the album of the year. It's just yet another good Steve Earle album.

Same goes for 'Chrome Dreams II' by Neil Young and 'Planet Earth' by Prince. Even patchy past-their-prime moments sail into top ten lists with ease when you're an obsessive fanboy.

El-P - Sleep When You're Dead
Deathklok - The Dethalbum
Cot Death - Digital Cacophony of Global Decay (ep, but it gets well-heavy rotation)

I seem to have drifted away from albums, the most impressive thing I got recently was a sneaky download of Firebrand Boys Chiptunes.

Re: Your Top 10 Albums of the Year?

My number one is easily: Still Remains - The Serpent

Other ones in no particular order:

3 Inches Of Blood - Fire Up The Blades

Black Light Burns - Cruel Melody

Chimaira - Resurrection

Devildriver - The Last Kind Words

Down - III: Over The Under

Machine Head - The Blackening

Turbonegro - Retox

The Wildhearts - The Wildhearts

I'm missing one, hmmm.

High-Five!

Re: Your Top 10 Albums of the Year?

Cave-In side-projects have dominated shit this year, along with the new el-p and Aes Rock.

Full top 10 when/if I remember/have time.

Aye, I could easily name 10 albums which have come out before this year that I've just got into this year but I struggle with ones brought out in 2007.

You guys are just slow off the mark. In a decade you'll be jamming to records from 2k7 saying "2017 ain't shit, all the good stuff came out ages ago".
