I should probably hate Britney Spears and have lots of venomous sarcastic remarks about all the fucking stupid things she does, but for some reason I feel sympathy for her more than most celebrity nutjobs. I reckon she just has the mindset of a regular girl, but being used and abused by record companies and the media in general since she was too young to really know any better means her regular girl mind isn't quite sure how to cope with it all now that she's "an adult" and so not the media's little darling any more. It's a shame, genuinely.

Same here. The cult of celebrity is just OTT these days. You'd think that nothing else of interest is happening in the world. News channels are more like gossip columns these days.
