Ben Onono - Native Stranger

Whistling in songs is a favourite of mine. Well, good whistling is, so it's lucky for Ben Onono that my first introduction to his own tracks - he's also written well received dance tracks for the likes of Fatboy Slim & Natalie Imbruglia - was via Count To 10, a quirky tune intro'd by some fine whistling and featuring a kazoo. I make it sound possibly a little too twee & trying to be oddball but it's not it's just a natural lazy tuneful little number.

The rest of the previewed tunes from debut album Native Stranger sit more mainstream lounge & electronica; nice rhythms with good piano pieces and some fine production. Definitely very pleasing touches to the tracks but without the same instant appeal as Count To 10. Of course good chillout music always grows on you after repeated listens and these are undoubtedly strong enough to work there way into many a Sunday afternoon comedown play list.
