Band: Glasvegas

Aye. I like bands who sing in regional accents because that's what comes out naturally (The Proclaimers, say, or The Clash) but I fucking hate when you can tell it's put on (Lily Allen, every other London band recently) and Glasvegas sound more like the latter to these ears.

it's not the accents, it's as you said when it sounds put on. big paolo nutini can live though, he says " new shooooooes' in a way that makes me go awww.

i'm too scared to talk to him as my boyfriend at the time stole the big pirate flag they had on their van when they played a gig with pencil head a few years back in either stereo or mono. (whatever one it was that changed names and was next to PC world finneston)

My only memories of the night are them being RAGING about it and sancho pulling a big goff. haha

I like the accents in the Glasvegas because it's so unexpected with that 50's/60's Phil Spector kinda sound. Like yer drunk uncle singing Elvis tunes at a wedding.

I cant believe they are gona be bigger after seeing them a million times supporting Dan Sartain in an empty Sleazys. Grunter/Grant is gonna hunt you down Laura and hit you on the head with his bag piper until he gets his flag back.

ahaha, she wasn't a goff, she was a very stunning laydee actually. Sancho just declared her a "bloody goff!" next day in his sobriety when Stuart showed him a picture of her.

and it wasn't me, it was the dirty big emo I was seeing at the time!

They do sound like their hamming it up like (although part of me reckons thats cause nae fucker (apart from the odd ned joke band) I've heard sings earnestly in a weegie accent.). In the case of the proclaimers I reckon most East Coast accents (with the possibly exception of broad doric which makes bands sound as if they may as well be singing in Latvian or something) are possibly more natural singing voices. Being 'softer' and lilting a bit more.
