| Equipment Swapshop/ Advice Hey there all you people in forumland!!!
I've noticed that there's quite a few folk playing in bands, which gave me this idea. If anyone is looking to buy/sell/trade/swap gear of any description why not post it on here? The cost of being in a band is expensive enough without folk getting shitty trade-ins and stuff.
So if anyone needs/wants to sell/borrow/lend stuff like guitars/amps/effects and the like, bung it on here and offer it to a forum punter first.
Please note that Forbes has approved this on the condition that we use this priviledge amongst ourselves as private individuals, so no commercial transactions please (or any music shop workers punting unwanted gear)
As a sidethought, if anyone is short of stuff for gigs, post up what you need and we'll all try and help. Same goes for and technichal queries related to guitar/bass/drums/amps/effects and shit.
As i said on another thread, there are loads of experienced players on the forum who will gladly share wisdom and advice. |

| In terms of strings wot do u reccomend?
I play 5string bass and get rotosound jazz swing or similar priced brands (theres not much in the way of 5string packets).
Neway - to the point they cost me around 20-25quid which is quite a lot of money for me.
Do the cheaper ones last as long or give a good as sound as the more expensive ones? Ive been told to go for cheaper ones cos im just payin for the brand name which mite b true.......but i dont hav the cash to b experimenting with loadsa brands. So wot do u think?
*looks at Alembic bass strings for $50*
*considers*
*no way....$50....HA!* |

yea, but guitar strings r cheaper so it all evens out i guess.
I mean like when my strings wear out. The sound gets a lto warmer as time goes by which is cool up to a certain point but then slap/pop bass sounds really shite and my sound gets far too rumbly. Ive only broken two bass strings while ive been playin (which is actually quite a lot.....i kno ppl that have played for yeaaaars and not broken one - but they're usually indie type players)
Still.....id fancy havin a go at those $50 alembic bass strings to see wot their like (as long as i dont pay) |

Just remember that expensive don't always mean good, and brand names don't always make good strings..
Rotosound= shite guitar strings/ good bass strings
fender/gibson= nice guitars/ god awful strings |

Yeah, the 6 stringers are quite good although I've not seen many about. Shame the strings are pish though!!!!
Along similar lines, have you thought about fenders or G&L's?
What kinda guitar you looking for? |
