| Re: New U2 stage revealed Genuinely though, terrible music. Then, now and forever. It's hardly a bandwagon to hate them if they still sell out stadium tours around the world, is it?

| Re: New U2 stage revealed It's a bandwagon to slag them, like it's fashionable somehow. Same with most bands who can effortlessly sell out a worldwide arena tour. Still, like a few of their tracks. |

i wonder how bad mainstream guitar music will be by 2029!?

| Re: New U2 stage revealed More info sneaked out of the StageCo. testing area... Quote:
There will be three "claws" built for the tour. (Bart's photos are of the first claw.) The other two haven't been built yet, but will be easier after they figure out how to build the first one.
This first claw will be used in Barcelona, Gelsenkirchen, two U.K. shows, and Paris.
It'll take four days to build the claw at each venue.
The towers are 27 meters high, and the claw itself will be about 50 meters high. The towers will be moved out of the way after the stage is built and before the show starts.
The "cover sheets" for the claw just arrived and are being tested this week.
They'll start building the stage in Barcelona on June 15th.
The tour may visit South America in 2010.

To be honest, I cant be arsed with U2, however, having worked in the field for years, I love the engineering that goes into these things...

| Re: New U2 stage revealed dur. hands up, that was plain stupidity. i remember being a bit distracted when i typed that and thinking something was wrong, hence the question mark. much as i'd like you to think it was because i was landing a plane at the time, or fighting a bear, it was probably that 90% of my brain was occupied with watching diagnosis murder or something.
i was trying to find a term that applied to both U2 and coldplay/snow patrol though and giving it more thought i couldn't accept any term that doesn't involve words like "insufferable".

| Re: New U2 stage revealed stadium rock to me means something between 80s-perm-rock and status quo. u2 can sneak in happily enough cos of the scale of their shows even if the music is a little more introspective at times than the YA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA stuff.
i can't bring myself to accept coldplay and such as "indie" (in the non-literal sense) even though people who like 'em seem to clump them in with the less appalling acts at the mainstream end of that genre.
