Well she got her daddys car
And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now

And shell have fun fun fun
til her daddy takes the t-bird away
(fun fun fun til her daddy takes the t-bird away)

Racine — The Last American Hero

It’s the B-side to the Grease Monkey single and it’s bloody brilliant. Spoken word breathed over the top of a Leftfield-like beat by Wendy James, telling the story of the greatest stock car racer ever to pick up a spanner.

Re: songs about cars and driving

DJ Shadow - "Mashin' on the Motorway"

And possibly "Blood on the Motorway", but as that song is about a person dying in a car crash, complete with defibrillator sound effect, it might not be suitable (although it is a beautiful song!)

Has anyone suggested 'Cars and Girls' by Prefab Sprout yet?
