At the time there were bands like Spunge, Farse and Jesse James off the top of my head. No-one's really doing it much now. Have a look for Bombskare for a good Scottish example, they're quality live too.
Britain last spurt of ska punk that crossed my radar. I wasn't interested at the time, Capdown are the least of the three acts there but is there anyone I've missed? Or indeed any good shit being done now?

Can YOU step up to the plate?
Spunge were absolute fucking shite.
Get The Propagumbhis compilation album, The Rise And Fall Of Nothing Much At All. It kicks the arse of pretty much everything else from the UK scene of that period.
Evil Macaroni were alright, their split EP with Lightyear was a good one.
Look up Adequate 7, Jesse James and Howard’s Alias as well. Basically the roster of Household Name Records.
Sonic Boom Six and Zombina & the Skeletones are probably the best acts still kicking about.
In truth, the UK bands never really caught up with the US 3rd/4th wave ska scene that inspired them. Lightyear and the Propagumbhis were the only ones who came close.
The interval between birth and death is fractal. Any given moment is infinitely deep and rich, and therefore one lifetime is quite enough for me.
cheers guys

The thread title is a good example of everyone who played every monday night in tuts around 2001.
I must have seen every ska/punk wannabe band in Britain back in the late ’nineties. Most of them were godawful.
Good Times™.
Check out My Own Religion right here on AltNation for the best Scottish take on it. Latino Deathska was an absolute stormer of a tune.

I still like Shootin' Goon, Lubby Nugget, The Tone and Captain Everything. Lightyear where the best though, and Capdown the oldest, the Link 80 split is amazing.
2001 was when everyone thought it was a good idea to bleach your hair and wear shorts, usually with your arse crack hanging out.
Another band I loved from that period was Antimaniax, they where Austrian rather than British. But I doubt they would get praise in any other thread.
Captain Everything! Seen them a few times, great band. No Comply are another, completely forgot their name for a bit.
Can YOU step up to the plate?
I forgot all about No Comply, they used to be awesome.
Captain Everything were good but I’d call them pop punk, not ska.
Antimaniax were a bunch o’ crusties.

Captain Everything had their ska moments, but yeah they where 100mph bubblegum. II've got my secret Crustie love, so I love the freegans, but they will probably judge me too much. I quite like Joey Terrifying, www.myspace.com/wearejoeyterrifying or maybe I just like Deeker and Ryan.
Mark E. McKeown: I will NOT be graceful, I will SHOW MY WORKING.
Clear Air Turbulence: The best hardstyle money can buy.
Bunny & The Misshapes: Really?
Forgot all about Farse. Crackin' wee band.
Met the bassist from [spunge]'s mum when I was working in Jersey.
Quality band. sinister off here put me on to them years ago. Still got Operation Anthill kicking around here somewhere.
Capdown were also peach.
Civil Disobediance was a classic soundtrack to my more expansive listening youth.
Anyone remember Deconstruction 2001? Pennywise, Capdown, Boysetsfire, [spunge], Snuff, Lagwagon, Sick of It All, and about a million others?
Literally amazing.
