well, you did say that the used and taking back sunday were top hardcore bands that pissed all over fugazi and sick of it all. this either means...

A. you're not hardcore enough for myler
B. you're too comical to be taken seriously

before you tell me broaden my tastes, i've started already. i listen to everything from freestyle jazz, ambient and classical right through to grindcore, hardcore and death metal. it just so happens that taking back sunday and the used, among others, are a bit guff. trucker caps ahoy!

Nah What I mean by that is that you'v e been a noted ass around here with regards to spamming the baords with your bands gigs.

2. The quote "this wans new!" then "HEARD IT" before you had even played a note, was shouted at one of yer gigs by me and THERMO. So I just thought Id share.

Ive got plenty of different and "decently" wide tastes, but Unfortunatly I don't really like The used or Taking Back Sunday. Right Enough, this doesn't mean they are shit cause I don't like them. Point is, the magazine was talking about "hardcore bands" not "emo or emotional hardcore", just plain proper hardcore, which unfortunatly, both the bands you mention resemble fuck all of.
Id say they resemble, sound-wise, more like an indie band that use a distortion pedal at points.

never slagged off glassjaw, i don't mind them. i don't think using the term "hardcore" is appropriate for bands like taking back sunday and the used because there's nothing that hardcore about them. they're a far cry from the emotional hardcore that originated in washington DC during the mid-80s, music being produced by bands like rites of spring, embrace, soulside, fire party etc. the closest relative taking back sunday and the used have to emotional hardcore is sunny day real estate, who essentially gave a post-seattle reading of DC emo...it's good, but it's not hardcore. basically, the emo that the used et all claim to be peddling is that of a third-hand genre and therefore is not relevant to discussions of hardcore other than as part of the extended hardcore family tree.

you can listen to those bands if you want though, i just find them dull and devoid of artistic merit, but that's only because of my general tastes. my problem with these bands is that they've been passed of as emo, and now as hardcore, which is simply ludicrous. i know that i shouldn't really be so fussed about labelling music but for the purposes of this top 20 list i have to be a bit of an art nazi
