| John Lennon Saw a very good documentary type thing about him last night, quite obvious to me that he was both a genius and a bit of a bastard too, that came across anyway. What are others' thoughts on the man or music, or both.

| Re: John Lennon Talented but over-rated and an arrogant hypocrite. Both Dylan and Simon were way better.

| Re: John Lennon Hahahaha, he certainly had a good ear for a pop tune. Lyrics were often run of the mill though.
"Imagine there's no possessions, it's easy if you try" - Not that easy while watching you, in your white tux, play a nauseatingly self-righteous song on a massive white grand piano in a giant mansion, John.

| Re: John Lennon Solo stuff - Mid-paced piano ballads (as you said) and pop/rock'n'roll by numbers
Beatles stuff - Rock'n'roll standards, nursery rhymes, whimsy and watered down psychedelia

| Re: John Lennon Musical genius in my opinion, big fan of the solo stuff but not really into the Beatles - I liked the documentry, I didn't realise he actually split up with Yoko Ono for a good while then went back before he was killed. The story that's portrayed nowadays is one of hippy bliss between the two but it wasn't the case. |
